Letting Go

In 2026, the Year of the Fire Horse
acts as a powerful catalyst for embracing the process of
letting go of what no longer
serves you, moving beyond
the shedding phase of 2025
into a period of dynamic,
forward-moving action and
personal transformation.
With that in mind, it seems like an opportune moment to discuss the art of moving on and forging ahead.
My first personal experience comes from shaking down our stuff, literally 16 garage sales, to move aboard a sailboat when our girls were young. Up to this point I was a packrat but far from being a hoarder. My girls now refer to it as being an order hoarder, because our home was orderly and open to walk about, yet I had saved every flower pedal from all of the flowers that their Dad had given to me and the first trash can from my first apartment in LA when I was 17.

The experience was frightening, but after we settled on board with minimal belongings and the smallest storage unit we could locate on land, I discovered a sense of freedom that my previous life could never have revealed to me.

Four years later when we moved to terra firma, I vowed to never go back to our life as we knew it on land before this chapter. I have continued to abide by our 'one tv per house' until recently when our homes became high end rentals & apparently people who are on vacation want lots of tv's. Like The Monkees song 'Pleasant Valley Sunday'...Mr Green he's so serene with a tv in every room.
Since 2001, I've gathered more possessions, occasionally intentionally, and other times it feels as if they mysteriously appear overnight while we sleep. Regardless, we now own more items than during my boat life days; some are treasures, while others are merely objects. The challenge lies in letting go of the objects, stuff.... the crap!

By spring 2024, Britney led us through a complete home renovation.
We remodeled our home room by room,
incorporating elements we had always desired,
such as a Murphy bed, bidet toilet, and barn door.
The most surprising transformation was our garage,
which I thought was already organized,
but it became an incredibly functional and continuously organized space.
She truly knows how to organize, and she did just that!
Our garage now has bins that are in racks that allow us to pull any given bin independently of the others. Labels on the front of each bin shows us what is inside. And we are ever so thankful for this specific part of our home redo. It freed up the middle for a home gym and still left space for a beloved car.
Therefore, in June 2025, when we decided to take the plunge, we were far better prepared than if we still had our old garage. The choice to move out was made swiftly upon discovering our dream home, giving us just 16 days to pack up our lives and transition into our RV.
We continue to have access to two garages, but the houses there are now operational. As a result, 90% of our personal items are stored in boxes in the garage while we await our major move to the new house, which is delayed due to tax-related reasons.
Once again I am reminded of how much stuff most people have that they really don't need. We are, for the most part, going along just fine with our 10% of belongings. Sure I do miss a wider variety of scarfs, shoes and jewelry along with how much I love the glass wave that we bought in the Florida Keys, but for the most part - we have everything we need. We have our health, our family and close friends.
So, what will you let go of this year? More specifically, how will this phase of dynamic, forward-moving action and personal transformation manifest in your life? Life resembles monkey bars; sometimes we need to release one rung to make a big swing and grasp the next one!
Imagine living a truly limitless life—how would this manifest in your professional life, family interactions, and social activities? What are the areas you would like to advance in? Perhaps learning a new language, embarking on a new fitness journey like yoga, cycling, or martial arts? Maybe planning a new trip, starting a volunteer role, changing careers, or considering retirement? The possibilities are endless.
Life meets you at your level of audacity.
Let's go! Shari
This week's blog has been brought to you by our king of oils Frankincense by doTERRA!
There are countless ways that we enjoy the benefits of what we affectionately call 'our boy Frank'.

Here are some of our go to's for using pure Frankincense oil neat:
5-8 drops of Frank in a diffuser
4 drops of Frank, 2 drops of vanilla and 2 drops of MetaPWR in a diffuser
One drop under your tongue daily for inflammation
One drop on your thumb then press your thumb on the roof of your mouth for 20 seconds to eliminate a headache
Apply one to two drops to the soles of your feet to promote overall wellness and balance mood

And for enjoying Frankincense in either a pre-made roller bottle called touch by doTERRA or a DIY by adding 40 drops of frank to a roller bottle and toping off with fractionated coconut oil or castro oil.
Here are our favorite ways to use that:
Roll around your eyes (on the skin but keep out of actual eyes) and say goodbye to dry eyes, I never need eye drops since I started doing this!
Roll over age or sun spots on your skin to fade or erase unsightly spots
Roll onto your temples to reduce stress
Roll on your belly to reduce inflammation in your core
Roll on the bottom of your feet for relaxation

We also offer Frankincense in a capsule form for joint health and reducing oxidative stress. Lastly, we have combined Frank with Naio Wood in a stick form for healthy skin and restorative properties.
