First Stop
Since our daughter who is as scrappy with her real estate commodity as we are, she decided to house swap while we were away. That led us to get out a day or two early to give her space to get it prepped - sans a dog.
I remember my Grandparents raving about Santee Lakes and I thought it was so lame, coming from the broad world viewpoint of a teenager. Little did I know.... it truly is a hidden treasure. Now, I'm wondering what their favorite campsites were.
I know what ours is.
Anything along this darling little stream that runs through part of the campground.
We arrived in late July. We took in all of the natural beauty that camping provides and I ran some last minute errands on that full day before heading North.
We had made a game day decision to head out to the DR at the end of August, since our trip of wandering in Wyoming, Montana and Idaho was thwarted by the fires and our new itinerary pivoted us to head up the coast. This wasn't going to take as much time. So why not squeeze in a 10 year anniversary celebration?!
However my passport was due to expire within the six month window. When I returned last summer from exploring Eastern Europe, it was early in our house jump and I couldn't imagine going anywhere for some time. I wasn't even buying coffee out!
So, off to PB I go to get said passports, then off to find a place to take a passport photo and lastly groceries, as we hadn't loaded up yet. It's different now that we no longer store our RV in our backyard or on my Mom's property. We will probably be starting our trips from Santee Lakes going forward for this reason alone. It gives us time to cool down the fridge/freezer and then provides a convenient trip to the store.
The only bummer thus far was that for the first time in 6 years, we have ants! Not a ton but enough to feel like we better get on top of it before the scout brings in the troops. Fun essential oil fact!

It's best to leave a door open for pets when enjoying essential oils, so that they can self-regulate. Their sense of smell is so much more delicate than ours.
However, spraying a slight amount here and there isn't the same as diffusing oils for hours on end. We found that a few sprays of our peppermint ant spray did not bother Pearl, handled our ant problem and the fun side benefit is that I love the aroma and so do my lungs!
That's it for now. I have a lot to catch up on, as we are actually almost done with our road trip and I've been so relaxed that I've barely opened up my computer to write!
Pearl was ready to rock and roll, she is a fan of exploring right alongside of us.
If she's good, we might even let her drive! Haha

To make a simple DIY essential oil ant spray:
mix 1 cup of water
15 drops of peppermint oil
15 drops of tea tree oil in a spray bottle.
Shake well and spray along baseboards, entry points, and ant trails to disrupt their pheromones and repel them.
