The Missing Town

'This is the first town that we've seen on our road trip, that has so many cute little shops side by side with a sidewalk to make strolling along so easy, we are definitely coming back here during our stay in Accord, New York,' says Shari. While driving along, fully focused on his task at hand, Doug replies 'that sounds good.'

The next morning, we set out to find that town while we also had a few errands to run.

We had purchased a darling knit pumpkin hat for our granddaughter, Zeina and were on high alert for a post office.

As we made it out to the main Route 209 that we had come in on, Doug says 'turn right', with complete confidence sans any ambivalence in his voice.

We drive along and not only do we not see THAT town, we really don't see much of anything.

I begin narrating everything that we are passing by, in hopes of encouraging Doug to keep a keener look out for a post office. All the while, he is keeping his eye on the road, since I'm not (and yes, I was the one driving). It was unnerving for us both to be flying down the 2 lane road accompanied by semi trucks, little cars and everything in between. I would spy a sign with an envelope on it and say, 'we missed another one'. As I would glance over, Doug had his eyes on the road, still.

We must have passed 3 or maybe 4 post offices before I realized we had been driving for 42 minutes. 'We are definitely going the wrong way, it wasn't this far away' I quipped and added, 'I'm turning around to catch one of those post offices before they close.'

It's funny now.

The following day we decided to earn a new sticker by driving to New Jersey.

Of course we kept our eyes open for the missing town, but didn't see it.

What we did see was the highest point monument and found a dog friendly cafe nearby for lunch.

The highest point was really cool, you could see New York and Pennsylvania all the while we were standing in New Jersey.

The drive did not disappoint, for our car is made for the curvy roads of New England. The best part was driving up to the monument on a one lane road that was surrounded by fall foliage.

Towards the top of the road was a parked car with two people standing to take in the view. When the man saw our car, he stopped us and asked if he could take a picture. Basically our car was a model in a photo shoot and he was the narrator of an awards show. He was telling his friend, 'this is one of the top classic cars of all time...really, this car is epic for its genre....they just don't make them like this anymore...this is one of the great classic cars of all time....look at those curves.... those lines.... it's art.... it's history..... it's a treat to be here.... I'm taking it all in. We thanked him for sharing our passion of old cars and bid him and his friend a good day. It was fun to run into someone who really got the joy we have of driving around a car as old as me!

She has been a good run about car, the heat works better than we thought it would and it sips gas. Most of all, it's loads of fun to zip around the country roads.

Doug was way over finding the missing town by now. But if you know Shari, you know I had only begun. This time we turned LEFT! Both because it was the only other way to go and because it was spa day for Maggie. We dropped her off at the groomers so we could roam for two hours untethered. Much to my chagrin, we still didn't find the missing town. We did find a diner that had great food, a wonderful server with soulful energy which made this our respite for the day.

We picked up Maggie and she

looked wonderful.

As much as we had tried to

keep her right with brushing,

combing and baths, I even

blow dried her hair once or

twice, there's nothing like

having a professional to

give you a hand.

Karina and San Doggy

in San Diego,

we miss you!

When we had checked into this campground I met three of the staff members who were all so friendly and nice. You could tell they worked well together and it gave this place an extra good vibe. It came up in conversation that I work from our RV in the health and wellness business. Beth said she would love to hear more about it.

I had Beth and her friend Kristina over for my first doTERRA class in our RV. It was really fun to connect with fellow campers and have a girls night in. We covered a lot of ground by me simply putting out some of the doTERRA products that we have in our RV for our personal use.

I have renamed them from oil classes to health & wellness classes. Yes, doTERRA began with oils in 2008 but they are now just a fraction of their product line.

I went over the oils, moved onto vitamins and supplements, skin and hair care and house hold cleaners.

I also reviewed how to swap out common house hold items; ben gay, neosporin, tums and vicks vapor rub,

It's a great route to begin addressing a health concern or goal with natural, plant based products first, because it's risk free.

For example, why start with Melatonin when it's known to have four side effects when you could easily try our Serenity line that is all plant based, pure and has zero side effects - to get a good night's sleep and you will never build up a resistance to it?

As you can see, I'm passionate about my journey with doTERRA because it has not only helped us with our health, it's a wonderful feeling to help others.

I'm stoked to have gained three new members to our team; Beth, Kristina and Lara. This is a wonderful business for anyone who wants to learn more about optimizing their health. It's an added bonus that you can work from anywhere, including a home with wheels. This was a really exciting evening, to see that I really can take my passion of doTERRA with me and incorporate it into our life on the road.

I learned something about how to not lose the next cool town that we pass through, by talking to Haley. I was telling her about this darling town and that today we were staying in because we had light rain but maybe tomorrow on our way to the sheep convention (next read below) we would find it and she said, 'what was one of the names of the stores that was in this town?' I replied, 'I didn't make note of any one name, I just saw that it was a darling town, straight out of a movie and it was rare because you could stroll from store to store.' She sighed, 'oh, if you knew of even one business name, then you could simply look up that store for an address.' Now I know!

Side note for those who love to hear about weather, this was only the second rain day since Sept. 19th! We feel lucky for our great weather thus far. Today in Hershey it warmed up into the 60's and is sunny!

Now for the sheep convention, which is what I had been calling it all week. Turns out it was a county fair.

We met Doug's niece Cailyn and her hubby Will at the county fair that was only a 45 minute drive for us. It was a real treat to not only see them, for last we saw them was at their wedding two years ago, but to also share in their passion of sheep farming.

We learned so much about sheep that day. There are so many different breeds and we sat in on several lectures from sheep farmers, that were all so interesting. My favorite was the guy from Italy that said 'I've been smiling for 25 years' in response to how has it been farming sheep. There was also a woman who was originally from Los Angeles, who now lives in Vermont. She has over 100 sheep and every single one of them have names.

Their passion runs deep and it's really wonderful to be amidst this energy. I hope everyone has a chance to find their passion, if they haven't already. For smiling for 25 years is a helluva start!

We are really proud of Cailyn and Will for the lives they live now in NYC and for the goals they have set out for their future. They are both delightful to be around and it made for a really wonder filled day.

Speaking of passion, we are now in Hershey, Pennsylvania and we just toured the chocolate factory. But that's for next week's blog. When you can be anything in the world,

Be Kind

Lots of love,

Shari and Doug

PS We never found the town and I've finally let it go!
