Started as a Midway Point

And ended up being a beautiful place in it's own right.

Haley didn't have to ask us twice if we wanted to go to a Savanah Banana Baseball game with family and friends when we got home, which required us to shave off a few days from our travels and Wisconsin drew the short stick.

We chose to stop in Hixton, Wisconsin as our midway point from Pictured Rocks, Michigan to Minneapolis, Minnesota and wouldn't you know it was one of our favorite campgrounds?! We were perched up top on a tiered plot of land with half a dozen camp sites, that had plenty of room for Pearl to run around and tire out, for peaceful evenings in the RV.

The next day we decided to make our day trip a personal one as we set out to see a specific home in Eau Claire, where my dear friend Lisa's Mom and Dad lived with her big brother Rusty before heading west to California where Lisa was born.

Once we got there, Doug took Pearl on a walk while I knocked on the door to see if the person happened to remember them from the early 60's. I realized it was a long shot but since no one answered the door, it made it an even bigger long shot! It was still interesting to see a neighborhood that was not only steeped in history but many of the homes were registered in the historical landmarks. I even asked a lady in the local CVS if she happened to know them, due to her advanced age and more so her strong sense of style.

Lisa's statuesque beauty and regal posture are still one of the first things you notice about her from her days of modeling in Milan. This lady reminded me of a more mature Lisa - as in age. It turned out to be another long shot, but you never know unless you ask! Anyways, it made for a fun day that also had meaning for my dear friend who was about to get married when we returned.

We topped off the day with lunch on a river with outdoor dining. A young couple with a new baby began chatting with us and when it was discovered that we had a 1965 VW bus as our go-about car, their faces lit up and they said 'we passed you on the highway.' I replied, 'you and everyone else!' It was a nice lunch and we appreciated both the view and the ability to have Pearl with us.

The next day we adapted to having a rain day by doing some beading and enjoying more rest from the long drive that it took to get there. Knowing that our next stop would be five fun packed days to see friends in Minneapolis, it felt good to take it easy.

I look forward to our next blog which will be packed full of adventures and fun!

Until then,

Onwards and Upwards, Shari
