Renewal

I really took my last post - about resting - to heart and skipped a week of blogging. It was nice. Although my blog doesn't take an inordinate amount of time to write and it brings me much joy, it was simply the skipped rhythm that gave me permission to feel as if I had
cut myself some slack.
I enjoyed breakfast with some of our family, being with my girls is always my happiest of places. Doug & I got more time on our mats; restorative, yin & slow flow. Britney & I got lost at the Yu Spa for four hours of soaking, steaming and a scrub which was the precursor to a deep sleep. I feel the difference from allowing myself the grace to skip a beat.
I also double dared myself to try a few new things. Thanks to my friend, Lori, I was given the opportunity to teach an essential oil class at a local Esthetician school. It's always a little unnerving as I embark on something new and forge uncharted waters. Yet the reward is great and I'm glad I got out of my comfort zone.

My other first is that I am hosting
weekly zoom chats called
Express-Oh.
They are 15 minute classes
about health and wellness.
With these recordings,
I'm building a library on YouTube!
LiveWellNaturally123 is my handle on YouTube. I'd love it if you 'liked' and 'subscribed.'
In time, you'll also be able to find other classes in my YouTube library such as customer orientations and tools to build a business with doTERRA. It's been fun and I couldn't have done it without the guidance from Britney.
Which brings me to this thought.... what does renewal look like for you? Is it a moment, a month or a season. Is it characterized by a certain task or event, or more of an ongoing vibe? Do you feel renewed as Spring blossoms and unfolds?

I love Spring.
I love the newness that Spring brings. Every year I have my pedicure with
five different spring colors,
something I picked up from
an American lady at an AA meeting in Puerto Vallarta decades ago.
However she didn't stop at Spring,
this was an all year long routine so
that she would remember to not take herself so seriously. When I was
at my chiropractor's last week
he remarked
'oh look, jelly bean toes',
which made me smile. From here on out, that's what they are....
jelly bean toes!

Spring always feels like a
fresh breath. Like a new start,
a reset or a do-over. Is it the
longer days and knowing that
they are going to continue
getting longer from now until the
summer solstice? Or knowing
that the next six months are all
about sunshine and not just
being on and around the
water but also IN it!
This makes our family a bunch
of happy water babies

Maybe it's the
bright colors,
that I associate
with Spring.
My daughter and I
took my granddaughter
Easter dress shopping and
it was so much fun.
We are carrying
on a tradition
that we had for
our girls
when they
were young,
by making sure to
include a
bathing suit for her
Easter Basket
because that's how
our bunny rolls.
I'm looking forward to mindfully moving back into our home after being gone for 11 months. I want to duplicate in our home, the simplicity that we have enjoyed by living in 80 square feet. Less stuff, a place for everything and everything has a place. Leave your shoes and your worries outside.
One practice that stayed with us after moving back to shore from living aboard a sailboat for four years is that we only have one tv in our home. I'm grateful that we have been able to maintain that.
At the end of the day, nighttime entertainment is really a treat. There are some fabulous shows and documentaries to enjoy. Yet, too much of anything becomes counter productive. I enjoy the peace and quiet in our home, from not having the tv on all of the time. Balance is what we strive for.
Well, having a week off was just what I needed. The contrast of road tripping for five months with barely a schedule to being home with appointments and things to do, left us feeling like something was on fire.
The contrast of those two lifestyles, illuminated our busy pace here. We are mindfully stepping back into life with a calendar and making sure to have more down time instead of just scheduling our spontaneity!

We are grateful to have a life
here in San Diego that we love, specifically to have time with
our family and dear friends again.
Being back in my home AA meeting
has been especially nice for me,
Doug is stoked to be back on the baseball field and we are both
grateful to return to our
home yoga deck several
times a week.
I look forward to incorporating a few other missed traditions; playing music, sailing and Humphrey Concerts.
All in good time, we will find our
rhythm on our home field again!
Have a wonder filled day! Shari
