Fargo...I've heard that name before

We arrived at our campground to set up camp, only to learn that we missed the famous Potato Festival by one day! Our camp neighbors had come from miles around and were enjoying the afterglow of said festival. Goes to how, you never know!
What we did know was that the next day we would go explore Fargo! As we rounded third in our trip, a two night stay is now our norm, which gives us one full day to explore then drag up and head on down the road. This is a good pace for us, as we still want to take in the sights but are also eager to get back to the beach, our family and friends.
We drove into the darling town of Fargo, only to see an electric VW Van, in a modern version of our yellow bus with a young couple at the helm and co-pilot seat. I wanted to pull over to say hi and share our joy of 60 years of VW's but the lay of the land didn't lend itself for that and as they turned right and we were headed left, I felt as though we really missed a unique opportunity.
Truth be told, I can actually get a bit pouty or down right grumpy over things like this for I love these serendipitous moments. Fortunately Doug wears life loosely and it didn't take long for me to shake it off and set out for a stroll down their main street.
We walked for quite a while, taking in the architecture, the various stores and it felt good to be wandering once more. We found an outdoor eatery at the end of our main street stroll which was great for Pearl.
As Doug and I sat down, I began asking him about the reference to Fargo. I told him that I remembered Fargo being a movie with men wearing peculiar hats and something about a hostage situation. He briefly began to lay out the dark storyline of Fargo for me. He didn't get far before I stopped him and said I never saw that movie and I must have mashed up a different movie with the name Fargo.
Nevertheless it was a darling town full of historic buildings and a quaint downtown where we could stroll down one end, have lunch and return back to our bus.
You can only imagine my complete and udder excitement to find this!
A darling couple, Taylor and Zervan were standing in front of the two busses comparing the before and now versions. As soon as I confirmed it was their bus, without hesitation I held out my arms for a big, fellow lover of V-Dubs hug. Turns out Zervan is from Germany and Taylor is from California. We had a lot in common and they were wonderful humans.

We stood on the sidewalk and talked for quite some time. We were instant friends and now we are also insta friends. Here is their handle if you wanna follow them.

They are van life-ing as they visit all 48 states. They came from the direction that we were heading and visa versa. It was fun to share notes.
I told them how stoked I was to see young people out in the world like this! Here's to many more adventures for us all!
Getting back to camp I realized there were these funny lil' trailers that sat low to the ground. I googled what was all the fuss about 'Ice Castles' anyways and learned so much from the world wide web!
Turns out they are designed for ice fishing but can be enjoyed anywhere. If you are out on the ice, which means you've driven your big ass, heavy truck AND the trailer out there, then you can lower down, cut your fishing holes (up to 9 holes on the deluxe model) and then fish from the comfort of your camper. They even have a hole next to your bed so you don't even have to get out of bed! Imagine that! Our grandparents would either be rolling their eyes or green with envy!
Well, that was about all that this stop had to offer, as we left we realized that the camp host had the nicest campsite we'd ever witnessed from a host. A real garden, with several beds and even rows of corn! A pop up canopy for his golf cart and a bounce house for the kids.
We love seeing all of these varieties of homes, for it's not the size that makes or breaks it - it's the love that is poured into it.
Thank you for continuing along in our journey,
Shari
