A Summer of Vulnerability

Brene Brown is one of my most cherished philosophers. Her words resonate deeply with me and inspire undeniable personal growth. Here is one of her many insightful quotes:

“Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change.” ―Brene Brown

Well, if that's true then our lives

are brimming over with innovation, creativity and change - because

it has been the summer of vulnerability.

When I reflect back to summer of 2025, I will smile and remember all of the feels that came from being incredibly vulnerable. It's a challenging feeling and yet based on Brene's well-founded quote, it is where the sweet nectar of life originates.

Innovation - it means to renew and that is a spot on description of what took place this summer and where we shall start to unpack our trifecta.

We decided to have faith in ourselves and our team, both earthly and divine, as we implemented a major change in our rental business. This change will eventually affect our living situation and our experience of it. It won't provide instant gratification, and that's when our capacity to trust the process becomes crucial.

Creativity - is my favorite of the three words. Brene believes that creativity can spring up from a place of vulnerability. The use of imagination and skill, is how I would describe how our new property was furnished in just four days. And by skill, I mean our friend - Britney Stanley from 'Just Go Home' interior design, brought her skills to save our jump and not only furnished our new home beautifully and with an intuitive flow, but also within our budget.

We had four days from

close of escrow on June 18th

to the day Britney and I

were to venture off to

Romania & Bulgaria with

doTERRA on June 23rd.

We had all hands on deck

that included Doug,

Haley & Zeina along with

friends who stopped by

to pitch in. Those were four

long days and we couldn't

have done it without them.

I've gotten better at asking

for help but there is still room

for improvement.

After returning from that unforgettable trip, we celebrated the Fourth of July in our new home. A week later, we embarked on our yearly staycation at Campland for the OTL season. The following day, Doug and I set off on a six-week road trip to the Great Lakes.

All these adventures, whether nearby or distant, provided a distraction that softened our leap. However, we returned to a prolonged period of vulnerability, as the significant leap in real estate wasn't finished, and the light at the end of the tunnel might actually be a train!

Change - sure seeking change is a big part of what started this jump and yet now that we are committed to this change, we also need to make some changes mid-air in order for this jump to be sustainable.

Fortunately, I have two solutions for this phase of development, and one has already been completed. This reminds me that I still need to lovingly unearth St. Joseph and move him to our new home.

It was a solution that

was entirely beyond

my control.

I'm happy to say that

we finally had a shift

in the tides of

real estate and

that light

ended up

being daylight,

not a train.

Phew.

The second part

of this phase

was already

lined up, as

I had

my annual trip

already planned

to Utah for the

annual doTERRA

convention.

It was great timing,

as if I walked right

into the solution

that was laid in

front of me.

I stayed with Karla, whom I had met during our trip to Bulgaria, and we encountered several friends from that journey. I've always enjoyed our conventions, but this one was particularly impactful because Mel Robbins spoke to me in a way that other speakers in previous years hadn't.

ree

Perhaps it was her message,

perhaps I was prepared, or

a combination of the two.

Regardless, I'm thankful that these events came into my life this summer. They all contributed to my present moment!

I have the potential to expand my wellness business, which focuses on helping people Live Well Naturally. This goal is achievable for me. My fall and winter are booked with several projects and am collaborating with a coach on a weekly basis to refine this venture.

I genuinely enjoy bringing hope and happiness to those around me. I believe this positive energy comes from prioritizing our health, as it is ultimately our most valuable asset.

So, when I look back on this memorable summer chocked full of vulnerability, I believe that this was the summer that we got out of our comfort zone, took risks, trusted the process and actually had some fun along the way. I'm really grateful for that last part, that we were able to enjoy this summer, all the while being out on a limb. Sure, I had my moments - like when we pulled into a gas station in Michigan and before my wheels came to a complete stop I began to cry, my head bowed as I meekly squeaked out 'I think... we... fucked up'. This moment didn't last long but it was just the pressure relief that I was craving. To face my fears and say, what if?

I knew I could handle the reality of the jump not succeeding better than living with the endless curiosity about whether that house was meant for us... each time we passed it on our way to the beach.

I'm able to share this story now that we are further down the road, literally but more so figuratively. I can see in my rear view mirror of life that I was coming from a place of fear and that was the price we paid for jumping. Fortunately the road trip was also filled with treasured moments that will be with us for a lifetime.

If change is one of the few certainties we have, isn't it more enjoyable when it's our own idea?

What have you been eager to pursue but hesitant to start? Perhaps a new hobby or sport, a change in your professional life, or even retirement? Whether it's a major leap or a small step, I encourage you to take the plunge.
